Windows 10 The free upgrade is rapidly coming to an end Only 7 days remaining By: J W Stuart April 30th, 2016, Revised July 8th, 2016 and July 23rd, 2016
The free upgrade ends on July 29th, 2016. On May 1st you will still have 90 days in which to upgrade. On June 1st, 59 days remain and on July 1st the countdown to July 29th begins. July 9th is the start of the last 3 weeks. July 23rd start the last 7 days, don't wait ... do it now.
It’s hard to believe that 11 months have gone by since the Windows 10 upgrade was made available. In that time almost 300 million devices have been upgraded, but this is still far short of the 1 billion devices Microsoft is aiming for.
"Within two to three years of Windows 10's release, there will be 1 billion devices running Windows 10," Terry Myerson, Microsoft's vice president of operating systems, said Wednesday during the keynote presentation at the company's 2015 Build developer conference in San Francisco. http://news.microsoft.com/build2015/
So the big question are: 1) Windows 10 Anniversary Edition, when will it be released? Answer = August 2nd. We now know that the next major release of Windows 10 (Code name: Redstone) will be named the “Anniversary Edition”. No specific release date was originally mentioned other than “This Summer”. It now looks like Microsoft not release this edition prior to or on the actual anniversary of the Windows 10 launch in a last minute attempt to boost the number of Windows users who have upgraded from their current version of Windows.
Note: Users who have taken advantage of the free upgrade will be updated to the Aniversary Edition via Windows update on or after August 2nd 2016.
2) Once the free upgrade is over will another 600 million or more devices be upgraded for $$$ and will there be enough new devices be purchased to reach the 1 billion devices goal?
