Windows 8.1 Update 1 - The latest Pre-Release information March 27th, 2014
I’m not going to post my own review at this time; I’ll wait till it’s available from Microsoft and not leaked versions. However the pre-release reviews listed below are worth reading. When the release is available in April you can read about it here ----->
Paul Thurrott's site: http://winsupersite.com/windows-8/windows-81-update-1-hits-rtm "As for availability, I previously and exclusively revealed on Twitter than Microsoft plans to deliver Windows 8.1 Update 1 to MSDN subscribers on April 2 and then via Windows Update on April 8. The Build conference, probably not coincidentally, is scheduled for April 2-4 in San Francisco. At that show, Microsoft is expected to discuss the future of Windows, and its plans to integrate Windows and Windows Phone."
None of these reviews mention anything about the return of a full featured 'Start Menu' button. The question is what makes Microsoft so scared of adding back the Windows XP / Windows 7 style Start Menu button?
Also if the 8.1 update 1 fails to win over the masses then its strike 3 and you’re out, (currently Windows 8 and 8.1 combined only have about 11% of the market share, XP about 30% and Windows 7 about 47%) time to move on to Windows 9.
