Page 21 of the Ghost 15 Users Guide is the beginning of the full set of installations instructions. I’ve included a condensed version below. Note: The guide is a .pdf file and you will need Adobe Reader to view the contents.
To install Norton Ghost: a) Log on to your computer using an account that has administrator privileges. b) Insert the Norton Ghost product CD into the media drive of the computer. The installation program should start automatically. If not then select the ‘Run AutoRun.exe’ option in the ‘AutoPlay’ popup window. c) Select ‘Install Norton Ghost’ from the list of options. In the Windows 7 ‘User Account Control’ window click ‘Yes’. The installation will start. d) In the License Agreement window, read the license agreement, and then select ‘I accept the terms in the license agreement’. Click ‘Install Now’ button to continue with the installation.
Just sit back and watch the Windows 7 Task Bar. It can take 5 minutes or more to complete the installation even on a fast computer so be patient. Note: If the progress bar appears to be stuck near the end, check the Windows ‘Task Bar’, mouse over each task bar icon, if one of the popups list an error “No mapping between account names and security ID’s was done”, click ‘OK’ to close the error window, you may need to close out the error message several times during the install process.
The most common cause of this error is that your Windows account name contains spaces.
e) When the ‘Finish’ button appears, wait until all drive activity ends, uncheck the ‘Show the readme file’ box and then click ‘Finish” to complete the installation. f) Remove the product CD from the media drive, and then click ‘Yes’ to exit the installation wizard and restart the computer. g) After rebooting the computer, the Ghost Welcome window is displayed, click ‘Next’. h) In the Product Activation window, select ‘I've already purchased the product and have a license key’. Enter the product key and click ‘Next’.
Note: You can find the license key on the back of the Ghost CD jacket. Do not lose the license key. You must use it whenever you install or re-install Norton Ghost.
i) In the “Thank You” window, leave the ‘Run Live Update’ option checked, remove the checkmark from the ‘Launch Easy Setup’ and click ‘Finish’ to start Norton Ghost 15.
j) Click ‘Yes’ in the User Account Control window to run Live Update.
