History of PC performance - What money can buy ----->
By J W Stuart Each year in the late October to early November time frame I check the prices for a wide range of Personal Computers and add the current makes and models to my price list which goes all the way back to the 1960's to see what your money can buy.

I would like to say a few words as a thank you to the TechNet Subscription service and its employees, for without their help and support I may not have ever become a Microsoft MVP. On more than one occasion they have gone out of their way to answer my questions some of which may have been far from typical.
I sincerely hope that Microsoft is able to find another position within its organization for each and every one of you.
Thank you J W Stuart (Microsoft MVP)

The Post Office is losing too much money and generating red ink. But the real problem is lack of control over advertising.
On January 21st of this year (2013) I celebrated my 50th year in computing, so I think it’s fair to say I’ve see a lot of changes.
Without being specific in general there have been a lot of superior computers, software and other inventions but it’s not always the best idea that wins but the company with the best marketing of their product. So many good products have come and gone I’ve lost count. So here is a brief timeline ----- >

July 18th, 2011 US Budget, Republicans, Democrats and the Tea party - They still donít get it
You can cut the budget all you want but when America is out of work due to outsourcing there is never going to be any increase of income in the Treasury as unemployed workers pay no income taxes. At some point cutting and cutting and cutting the budget even more will result in opening the refrigerator door and finding it nearly empty much like some families do every day.
Congress passed a law that requires discontinuing the sale of 100 watt incandescent light bulbs at the end of 2011. This will force consumers to purchase 100W CFL bulbs (with toxic mercury), the more efficient incandescent bulbs or very costly LED lamps.

Martin Luther King, Jr.
As we celebrate the life, times and dreams of Martin Luther King, let me start by going back a few years to when John F. Kennedy was killed. Every year for a long time on each anniversary of JFK’s death, the media would ask if you remembered where your where when you heard the news that Kennedy was killed. My answer is yes, I can still remember where I was driving in my car and most likely can still mark the spot on the road to within a few feet when I heard the news on the car radio.
I have never heard this question asked about MLK’s death. I can not remember where I was at the time of his death, but I can remember with perfect clarity what went through my mind when I heard the news.
Imagine if you will a room with no furniture. In the center on the room towards the back wall is a single candle, the bright light illuminating the walls and ceiling. Slowly the flame starts to go out, its light receding back towards the candle, the walls nearest you slowly getting darker as the flame grows smaller.
Smaller and smaller the flame becomes, as if in slow motion the light in the room seams to be going inward toward the candle as the walls get darker. The flame finally goes out and the room is now totally dark, with nothing visible to your eyes.
That was the moment in time when I heard that Martin Luther King, Jr. had died.
I did not date this article as the date is not important to me; it’s what happened before, then and afterwards that is important.
